CiDRA Minerals Processing Announces Sales Representative Agreement with Morris Coker

Morris Coker to sell CiDRA’s Array-Based Flow Measurement System
Wallingford, CT - April 26, 2010

CiDRA Minerals Processing Inc. (“CiDRA”) announced that it has entered into a strategic sales representative agreement with Morris Coker of Beckley, West Virginia. Under the terms of the agreement, Morris Coker will act as an exclusive sales representative of CiDRA’s array-based flow monitoring systems for coal processing applications in the continental United States, east of the Mississippi River. As CiDRA’s exclusive sales representative, Morris Coker will emphasize coal preparation and tailings management.

As a kick-off, CiDRA and Morris Coker plan to team up at the International Coal Prep 2010 event held this week at the Lexington Center, Lexington, Kentucky, with several activities planned. Christian O’Keefe, PhD, CiDRA’s Director of Regional Business Development and Application Engineering, will be presenting at the XVI International Coal Preparation Congress, on Tuesday, April 27th, 2010, Session VI. The topic of the presentation is “Improved Flow and Flotation Monitoring for Process Efficiency Improvements through New Technology Utilizing Non-Contact Passive Arrays.” As well, both CiDRA and Morris Coker will be exhibiting at the event, at CiDRA’s Booth # 1623, where demonstrations of this unique flow technology can be discussed.

Morris Coker began in 1970, when O.Q. Morris and George Coker were actively engaged selling underground and process equipment to the coal industry in West Virginia, Western Virginia, and Eastern Kentucky. They formed Morris-Coker, Inc to serve the coal market with numerous lines of process equipment. They knew the territory and what it took to earn business; they maintained close personal relationships with their customers. Today, in their fortieth year, the company has evolved into the suppliers of the premier lines in the Coal Processing industry.

Monitoring flow through the coal prep process can be difficult as the coal is abrasive and can cause maintenance issues for intrusive instruments. CiDRA’s array-based systems have been designed specifically for applications like these. The non-contact, clamp-on design of CiDRA’s array-based system enables slurry flows to be accurately measured without process down time or costly maintenance issues. The system is not affected by magnetite addition, as used in dense media separation, and will not suffer from drifts or offsets that commonly occur with magnetic flow meters. In addition, CiDRA’s systems can measure the level of entrained air within a slurry providing the capability to improve specific gravity measurements and thus separation between coal and ash. Processing plants around the world are utilizing the SONARtrac® systems to gain process efficiencies on tailings and slurry lines.
