The SANDtrac Velocity Profile System is an extension of CiDRA’s clamp-on sonar flow measurement technology and was specifically designed to measure and characterize slurry rheology in applications such as hydrotransport lines or coarse tailings. By directly calculating the velocity profile of the slurry, the SANDtrac system allows operators to visualize the inside of the pipe to more accurately determine when a sand bed is forming. This information is critical as it enables the operator to take preventative action to avoid the formations of stationary sand best and costly sand outs. Additional benefits include improving pipe life cycle, maintaining process stability, and improving process efficiency.
